Former Ducks Say Oregon Will Flock To BCS

The proverb has been used since at least the mid-16th century when the saying, “Brydes of on kynde and color flok and flye allwayes together,” as William Turner wrote back in his 1545 satire, The Rescuing of Romish Fox.

Jump ahead to the 21st century and it translates to, “Birds of a feather flock together.” This holds true for some former Oregon Ducks who now play in the NFL. Following the Sunday night game between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, former Oregon safety Patrick Chung and quarterback Dennis Dixon shared a hello and talked some Oregon Ducks football.

“We control our own destiny,” Dixon said about the Ducks, who stand atop the BCS standings. “It’s totally up to us.” Excited yet collected Dixon said, “We’ve got two more games, Arizona and Oregon State. It’s going to be tough but I like our chances.”

College Football Insiders: III & 10 – Week 11

Ten thoughts from around the college football landscape, straight from the mind of Lloyd Ribner III.

1) I would like to begin this week by shining some light on a player who often gets overshadowed by his SEC counterparts. Randall Cobb is a receiver for the University of Kentucky and while I don’t know if he can dance like former Wildcat John Wall (and do “The Dougie”), he sure puts up stats like him.  Cobb leads the SEC in receptions and is third in the nation in all-purpose yards. In addition, he is second in the SEC with seven receiving touchdowns, has passed for three, rushed for three and has returned a punt for a touchdown.

2) I know we have spoken a great deal about the Heisman, but have you ever seen a race like this? The front-runner, Cam Newton has a new off-the-field headline

The following is an early look at the top draft eligible risers & fallers thus far in college football and what we can expect from them going forward.

Stock Up

ROY HELU JR. RB NEBRASKA: There’s no more productive college back as what he’s done with the carries he’s been given. No running back is gulping up more yards per carry at 7.3 and he already has four 100 yard games on the season. No game showed how destructive Helu could be than the contest against Missouri when he rushed for more than 300 yards on 28 carries. He’s a huge reason for
