Q&A: Austin Pettis, Boise State

This is a portion of an interview on College Football Insiders Radio with Boise State wide receiver Austin Pettis.

Tell us a little bit about Austin Pettis off the field.

I’m still a sports guy. Basketball is actually my favorite sport and I’m a baseball fan as well. I have a lot of baseball in my family on both sides professionally, so it’s all about sports throughout my whole life inside and out.

Are you related to Gary Pettis?

Yes sir, that is my uncle.

Is that where you got your speed?

I think that’s definitely where I got it.

How do you think yours compares to his in his heyday?

I think he’s definitely got me on

Scout’s Notebook: Michigan State @ Iowa

In a game that featured two of the top quarterbacks in the nation, there was only one that put forth a great performance, and that was Ricky Stanzi. The Iowa defense smothered the Spartans all game long and intercepted Kirk Cousins three times to complete a convincing win over the previously undefeated Spartans. Although the Michigan State defense played fairly well, they could not keep the Hawkeyes out of the end zone. Now the Big Ten is jumbled at the top with four teams with one loss in conference play, which should make for an exciting finish. College Football Insiders: III & 10 – Week 10

Ten thoughts from around the college football landscape, straight from the mind of Lloyd Ribner III.

1) See that number right next to the start of this column? That’s right, the number 1. For those of you who don’t know, this number, when spelled, looks like this…Oregon. Yep, those Ducks from Eugene who lead the nation every year in absurd uniform combinations are now the best team in the country, and I don’t think anyone is close. Chip Kelly’s squad boasts not one, but two Heisman trophy candidates in Darron Thomas and LaMichael James. The Quack attack invaded the Coliseum this past Saturday and continued their nearly point-a-minute offensive steamroll against USC in a game that many experts (No, I am not an expert, therefore I didn’t pick against
