Player Spotight: Chris Maragos, 49ers

After beginning his career as a walk on at the University of Western Michigan playing receiver along with then Bronco teammate Greg Jennings (now with the Green Bay Packers), Chris Maragos then decided to walk on at Wisconsin where he eventually earned Big Ten honorable mention honors at the safety position in 2009. He wasn’t drafted, but this NFL Draft Bible Lunch Bucket Squad member is a testament to hard work. Join host Bo Marchionte with special guest Maragos.

Miller was a second team All-Mid American Conference selection last year as he started 10 games at center and was a member an offensive line that helped CMU lead the MAC in scoring at 33.9 ppg. and rank second in total offense (423.1 ypg). Q&A: Domonic Cook, Buffalo

Getting to know Buffalo’s Domonic Cook: Cook is a senior defensive back for the Buffalo Bulls.  Cook, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., started all 12 games last season and ranked fourth on the team with 55 tackles and led the club with 10 passes defensed.  Cook also added 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble.

How did you start playing football?

I All my uncles and my whole family played football.  So I started when I was four-years old.  They just threw me out there one day and I liked it and I never stopped.  I’ve been playing ever since.

What is your favorite food?

Chicken finger sub.

What would your superhero name be?

The Chef.

Mallett Set To Shoulder Expectations

Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett has pretty wide shoulders, which is good because he has to carry some serious pressure on his strapping, 6’7”-inch frame. Speaking to Mallett last Thursday afternoon, he seemed to have a very good understanding of what is expected of him.

Mallett is currently in the process of rehabbing from foot surgery and expectations in Arkansas are higher than they have been in years. The quarterback has the extra scrutiny of being a Heisman hopeful and the defending BCS Champion Alabama Crimson Tide continue to stand in the Razorbacks’ way in the SEC West. Oh…and there’s also the constant speculation regarding both his draft stock and status for the 2011 NFL Draft. <br

Cal’s Chris Martin To Transfer

(BERKELEY) – Linebacker Chris Martin, a member of Cal’s 2010 signing class, will transfer from Cal announced head coach Jeff Tedford on Tuesday.

“My decision to transfer definitely does not reflect on the football program or the academics at Cal,” said Martin, a native of Oakland.

“Rather, I feel like for me to focus and truly reach my potential I need to leave many of the distractions I have here at home in the Bay Area. I need to venture away from home and start my college career somewhere else where I don’t have those distractions.”

“This is a decision that Chris and his family have made to do what they feel is in the best interest of Chris,” said Tedford. “We wish Chris the best as he pursues his college football career. It is always important for young men to make
