Sergio Kindle Fall Takes A Twist And Turn

University of Texas coach Mack Brown told reporters Wednesday, July 28, that Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle (head) may have fallen down two flights of stairs due to narcolepsy, reports NationalFootballPost.com’s Aaron Wilson, citing OrangeBloods.com.  There were reports prior to the 2010 NFL Draft that Kindle suffers from narcolepsy and attention deficit disorder (ADD).  Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome and director of college scouting Eric DeCosta appeared amused when asked about the reports.  DeCosta added, “If it was a concern, we probably wouldn’t have drafted him.”

Franek’s Take:
This situation is anything but amusing for the Ravens.  Kindle, the first pick for the Ravens (taken 43rd overall), was supposed to add youth to an aging linebacker corps (mainly Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs).  That notion will have to be put on hold after Kindle fractured his skull during his fall and his recovery time is

Lunch Bucket Squad: Trevor Harris, Jaguars

The first annual Lunch Bucket Squad was introduced this prior to the 2010 NFL Draft. Its mandate is to shed some light on players who won’t be household names from the early going. Players like Kurt Warner, who went undrafted back in 1994 then bounced around NFL Europe and stocked groceries before finally earning his place as one greats.

Trevor Harris was the choice at quarterback for the Lunch Bucket Squad. The NFL Draft Bible caught up with Harris and asked him to go back and talk about the draft and how OTA’s went as training camp nears.

When it comes to the playbook Harris joked that it was “a little bit thicker than Edinboro” while adding, “I’m in my playbook right now…between meals, reading.”

Harris set record after record while at Division II Edinboro, getting looks from every NFL team while working

Browns New Indentity | Hardesty Turns Heads

According to Tony Grossi of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Browns’ rookie running back Montario Hardesty was “one of the stars of the team” during the offseason.  As of now he is competing for a starting job, but he will have to be very impressive to knock veteran Jerome Harrison out of the starting spot, at least to start the year, after he was one of the lone bright spots outside of offensive lineman Joe Thomas on offense last season.

With that being said, if Hardesty can impress during training camp the Browns will likely utilize the dual-back system with Hardesty being the bruiser and the smaller Harrison moving into the third down role.  Hardesty’s biggest nemesis has been injuries, so if he can stay healthy and show he can be the durable, hit absorbing back he was last season with Tennessee he is in line
