UNC LB Bruce Carter Has Surgery On Torn ACL

North Carolina announced today that star LB Bruce Carter, a first-round prospect for the 2011 draft, will miss the team’s bowl game after undergoing reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL. Carter, a Butkus Award finalist this year, had been considered to be a potential top 15-20 pick at the upcoming draft, but now likely will not be available for the combine or pro day work-out schedule. Carter, in fact, was one of two veteran Tar Heels to undergo surgery this week as senior OG Alan Pelc, a second tier prospect for this year’s draft, had his shoulder operated on Monday. Like Carter, Pelc will not be able to play in UNC’s bowl game.
