NFL: Ernie Sims to Philly in Three-Way Swap

The Lions have sent Ernie Sims to the Eagles as part of a three-team deal also involving the Broncos, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. In the trade, Detroit receives tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick, while Denver picks up a fifth-round pick.

Mancini’s Take: Kudos to all parties involved in a deal that helps all three teams. Philly looks to be the big winner here as they scoop much a much-needed linebacker in Sims, whose stock had recently tumbled due to hamstring and shoulder injuries. But the upside is that Sims is only 25-years old and has proven to be a very athletic defender with extraordinary range versus the run and top-notch coverage skills.
