Kellen Moore Wins Joe Kearney Award

DENVER – Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore and Hawai‘i multi-sport athlete Amber Kaufman are the 2009-10 Western Athletic Conference Joe Kearney Award winners. Moore is the first Boise State football player to win the award, while Kaufman is the third female multi-sport athlete to win the award and the second from the University of Hawai‘i.
Named in honor of former WAC commissioner Joe Kearney, the awards are given annually to the top male and female student-athletes in the WAC.  Kearney, who passed away earlier last month at the age of 83, was the commissioner of the WAC from 1980-94.
Moore played high school football in Prosser, Wash., just 15 miles from Sunnyside, Wash., where Kearney was a three-sport coach for three years (1954-57).  As a sophomore last fall, Moore was the 2009 WAC Offensive Player of the Year after he led the Broncos to a perfect
