Wide receiver Marcus Easley has signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, according to multiple sources.

There’s just no telling how far Easley can go. The word out of Buffalo is that he is in the mix to start opposite of Lee Evans. The Bills made no attempt to bring back leading receiver Terrell Owens and rid themselves of Josh Reed, which has blown the door open wide open for Easley to step-in and start immediately.

His journey could take him from UConn walk-on, to fourth round draft pick and possibly land as a rookie starter in the NFL. This kid seems like the ultimate overachiever.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have released safety DaMon Cromartie-Smith.

Look for the ‘DCS Express’ to get a look-see, possibly in New York with the Jets or Arizona, where bloodlines run through.

The Houston Texans waived quarterback Tyler Sheehan, offensive tackle Adam Ulatoski, wide receiver London Crawford, offensive guard Kristian Matte, linebacker Will Patterson, and fullback Jack Corcoran.

Of the bunch, Ulatoski and Corcoran have the best shot to latch on to a practice squad somewhere.

1. Ryan Williams, Virginia Tech – The Hokies suffered through a slew of preseason injuries at tailback prior to the 2009 season. Those setbacks left many questions surrounding their running game…but Williams answered each and every one of them. Two fields, seven NFL players, over 50 coaches and volunteers, hundreds of footballs and 500 aspiring football players from grades three through eight made up Ray Rice Day at New Rochelle High School this past Saturday.

The sun was out and there was a cool breeze in the air as children and pros alike had a blast teaching, learning and just having fun in Westchester County just north of New York City. They were all there because New Rochelle’s finest, Ray Rice, did what all pro athletes should do: he gave back.

BIG BEN FILL-IN: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that veteran wide receiver Hines Ward is getting a bit antsy about knowing who his starting quarterback is going to be during Ben Roethlisberger’s four-to-six-week suspension. Ward believes that it’s imperative that the starter get the proper amount of reps with his pass catchers during the summer. Said Ward: “You do (need to get a rapport), and hopefully by training camp we have a guy that we name. If not, I’m not going to go up to Coach Tomlin and tell him what he needs to be doing.”
