NFL Pro Days: Latest Workouts and Team Visits

Big week in Pro Day Land between Alabama and South Carolina, where nearly a third of the potential first round picks performed. Not familiar with the prospects with Utah State? You will. We have pro day notes galore, sprinkled in with some other notable news like which Georgia player is considering entering the Supplemental Draft, why NFL agents are rejoicing and where Chris Simms has landed...as a coach. But first, here are some notes from the aforementioned Gamecocks pro day workout.

All 32 NFL teams were in attendance at South Carolina pro day on Wednesday, including Steelers GM Kevin Colbert, Jets HC Rex Ryan, Bengals DC Mike Zimmer and consultant Terry Bradway.

NFL Free Agent Frenzy: Cornerbacks

Dallas Signs Brandon Carr.

There is no other way to describe the Cowboys secondary last year other than abysmal. The signing of Brandon Carr (5yr/$50.1M) represents a huge upgrade and should certainly help out the Rob Ryan led defense. It also allows Dallas some flexibility in the draft. While pairing a top corner from the draft will be enticing, they can also entertain other options if a player high on their board slides. Projection: 50tck 5int 18pd

St. Louis Signs Cortland Finnegan.

This move demonstrates the pull that new head coach Jeff Fisher holds in personnel decisions. Bringing in Cortland Finnegan (5yr/$50M) from Tennessee seems to make sense, as he will thrive in a system that he is well versed in but the Rams overpaid her and justifiably so. Finnegan is a good, not great cornerback

NFL Free Agent Frenzy: Tampa Bay Bucs

Tampa Bay Signs Vincent Jackson.

The Bucs made a big splash with the signing of Vincent Jackson (5yr/$55.5M) and while it looks like a lot of money for a wide out on the verge of 30, the deal is structured as a two-year, $26M contract, nothing is guaranteed beyond that. V-Jax gives the new regime in Tampa a tall deep threat target that can stretch the field, something they sorely lacked. Projection: 65rec 1100yds 8td

Tampa Bay Signs Carl Nicks.

Unlike last year, Tampa decided to make use of their cap space and struck again by making Carl Nicks (5yr/$47.5M) the highest paid guard in NFL history with a contract that includes $31M guaranteed. New head coach Greg Schiano loves to run the ball between the tackles, so adding Nicks to go along with Davin Joseph
