Sources: NFLPA Attempts Boycott of NFL Draft

According to several sources the NFLPA has spoken to 17 top prospects for the upcoming 2011 NFL Draft in an effort to have them boycott attending the NFL Draft live in New York City and possibly being used on the NFL Network in any capacity, including interview time.  There is a thought process that the NFLPA may look to sell the interview/public appearances by those top prospects to a competing television network such as ESPN or Fox Sports in order to keep the NFL Network from gathering the usual post-draft pick information or fan viewership/ratings.

Why Patrick Peterson Should Be The No.1 Pick

2.     according to rule, general custom, etc; as a rule; ordinarily; usually.

“Not normally” was the response from one former NFL executive who asked to be anonymous in regards to NFL teams’ propensity to select a defensive back as the top pick of the NFL Draft. So, according to that rule, one of the top players in this upcoming draft may not get selected number one simply because he doesn’t play a position NFL execs deem worthy enough to be a number one pick overall. The player who is causing many to rethink this line of thinking is 2010 Jim Thorpe Award winner (the award is given to the nation’s top defensive back) Patrick Peterson from LSU. PPV: De.Smith vs Goodell | Fight For Money

It was almost 51 years ago, on September 26, 1960, that close to 70 million U.S. citizens watched the first televised presidential debate between Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard Nixon. It changed the outcome of the election and how we viewed presidential campaigns forever.

Watching Rodger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith exit the front doors of plush hotels after weeks of negotiations that have yielded little other than the decertification of the NFLPA, perhaps the time has come for another step forward in TV debate viewing.

NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith Executive said just hours after the union decertified, “As two business partners, the most common fundamental principal between the two of us has to be one of trust.” Amidst the jabs back and forth, which resonate like those from any political debate, Smith added, “Any business where two partners don’t trust each other

Even the collapse of our economy could not derail the NFL’s profit margins, but the league and its players have finally bitten off more than they can chew. For the first time since 1987 the NFL has been hit by labor strife, something it has avoided for the last 24 years as its revenues and popularity have grown by leaps and bounds.

During the Super Bowl in Dallas I had the chance to spend some time with
