Today, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will showcase his surgically mended throwing shoulder in front of NFL scouts for the first time.

Not long after reinjuring his shoulder during the Texas game, Bradford underwent successful AC joint surgery performed by James Andrews on Oct. 28. Bradford’s medical evaluations at the NFL Scouting Combine revealed his shoulder was progressing according to plan.

Now Bradford, who’s been working toward regaining his form over the last three months in Pensacola, Fla., can prove he’s back to 100 percent.

Watching closely for any red flag will be Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, who is expected to be among the numerous NFL personnel in Norman to watch Bradford today.

“Everything you hear about him, that’s said, it’s legit,” Spagnuolo told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last week. “He walks into a room, you can see he’s a quarterback. That was impressive to me.”

OU defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was planning to redo the bench press today during Sam Bradford’s pro day. McCoy wasn’t pleased with the 23 reps of 225 pounds he put up during the NFL Scouting Combine. McCoy, however, said last week he will abstain from benching again, and instead will be a spectator during Bradford’s pro day.

Two players expected to work out in front of scouts before Bradford throws are tight end Brody Eldridge and defensive end Auston English.

Neither player was able to participate during OU’s pro day earlier this month, due to injuries they suffered in the fall.

Eldridge is coming back from a neck injury. English, a ruptured tendon in his ankle.

Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen has interviews set up with at least five teams picking at the front of the NFL draft, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Over the next few days, Clausen will meet with the St. Louis Rams (No. 1), Washington Redskins (4), Cleveland Browns (7), Buffalo Bills (9) and Jacksonville Jaguars (10).

Charley Casserly, a former NFL general manager turned draft analyst for the NFL Network, said the quarterback would have to display a strong throwing arm.

“Number one, there’s going to be a question on his shoulder,” he said, “how the velocity is and where your doctors feel he is. … I (also) want to see him with throws under pressure. He had a clean pocket a lot of times. I have no questions about toughness. I saw guys right there under his nose, and this guy never flinched and threw the ball and completed it. What else you’ll get in a workout is the velocity on the ball, the quickness of the release, and how he takes some coaching.”

Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen (foot) said during an interview on SIRIUS NFL Radio that he does not know if he will end up being selected during the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft. Clausen is dealing with a foot injury, and he said he will go full speed soon to see how his foot feels. In regards to when he will be able to throw on the move, Clausen said it is a gradual progression. “Right now, I’ve just been doing walking drops and throwing the ball, trying to get my motion down,” he noted.

For those who actually take part in the draft, the dynamics have changed because there is now a break between the first and second rounds. Teams always have valued high picks on the second day of the draft because they have time to re-evaluate their draft boards overnight and take stock of players they thought might not be there.

With just one round on the first day, everyone will have a chance to sit back, review their boards and then decide what they’re going to do when it’s their turn in the second round the next day.

Jason Campbell has been the Washington Redskins’ starting quarterback since 2006. But his role appears to be in jeopardy. Mike Shanahan says he does not expect to name a starter at quarterback before training camp, according to The Washington Post.

Put that together with the Redskins’ active pre-draft assessment of incoming quarterbacks and its signing of former Bears starter Rex Grossman, and it appears likely that Washington’s camp will be an open audition for quarterbacks.

“I don’t think you know until you actually work with somebody for sure exactly how they’re going to handle your system,” Shanahan said Wednesday, according to the report. “I think Jason’s handled a lot of different systems in college and pro. He’s a big guy, an excellent athlete and he’s a worker. So now we get a chance to let it unfold and see how it goes.”
