Stafford is the 1: Georgia QB signs six-year deal with Lions as top pick

Quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to a six-year deal with the Detroit Lions on Friday night to become the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. NFL.com’s Steve Wyche reports that the Lions will pay Stafford $41.7 million in guarantees in a deal worth as much as $78 million. The Lions said Saturday that the deal is signed.
